Hello MM6/MM8'ers.! Just my usual regular reminder of some of the goodies available from Motifator.com. My favourite, and a permanent fixture on my MM6. Set of Performance Banks download, as an alternative to the default Performance Banks. Well worth installing.trust me!.! Download onto your computer, and transfer the files to a USB Memory Stick.
Read, and print out for reference, the included.pdf file for simple installation instructions, and complete details of the new Performance Banks. (They will be different from those included in the User Manual).
Don't forget to back-up any of your own 'special' Performances first, to a USB Memory Stick, (or Computer). The Default Factory Performances can always be re-installed from the MM6/MM8 ROM Memory. Give them a try. They are exceptionally well programmed by Peter Krischker, specially for the MM6/MM8.and being FREE makes them all the nicer!! On the MM6/MM8 it is instantly possible to modify any, or all, of the existing Performances Banks to create a complete new set(s), including Voices, Rhythms, Effects, Splits, Layers, etc. Reference to the.pdf file for the the new set of downloaded performances shows how easily it can be done!
I often modify a set, to create a new Performance, which can then be saved, to replace the existing one! Illustrates the ease of which it can be done on the MM6/MM8.!Its why they call it a 'Work Station'.! Its a clever little animal, with an excellent User Manual!! The pdf data list 'Free Performance Banks'. A list of secrets.!
Peter Krischker is a famous german genius 'sound designer' since 'SY 77 times'.' Selling sounds'! I can´t 'tweak' performances etc. 'Krischker' quality!
But the pdf data list is useful to analyse that 'Krischker sounds'. Or to write down 'your personal generated' performances etc.! Otherwise they can be saved easily!' The 'pdf data list - Krischker' is a list of 'fine tuning'!
'Hours (days) of tweaking.sounds'! There is (still) no MM6 'sound pool' with 'tweaked' performances etc. Of MM6 users! Imagine.sharing the best MM6 'tweaked' voices, performances (settings?).from MM6 users! Maybe it´s possible to import/export MM6 voices, perf.from other MM6 users via internet?
I must admit, apart from my Hammond Organ and my Stage Piano, my little MM6 gets far more use, than all the rest of my keyboard Workstations and Synthesizers! With its mixture of Motif, first-class voices, etc, and its PSR rhythms, etc, facilities, it is a versatile keyboard which is instantly; 'sit-down and playable!' With its tuck-under-the-arm, pop-round-to-your-mates, light weight.5 Kgs!its perfect for the travelling musician on a limited budget.which is what Yamaha aimed it! I occasionally have my little niggle about the naughty; 'MIDI In Socket'.but apart from that, it seems to be a very popular, affordable, 'Workstation' keyboard.it still appears on Yamaha's Product List, since January 2007, so it must still be selling well, with a little help from; 'Uncle Bert'!.its all so exciting!.! Saul wrote:I agree with you there Paul. Out of all Yamaha's current line up the MM6 is probably the best value for money, especially used as it's about half the retail price!
For a band on a budget it's a bit of a no brainer. I don't know who designed and wrote the MM6, English User Manual, but its got to be one of the best; 'fun' and 'understandable' manuals, produced for a Keyboard.!
I love it when gloved-fingers 'point' at things you need to know about!! I'll give it 10/10.!.as for my Yamaha Motif MO6, massive User Manual.that's another story.well-written though it is!.! Problems with some manuals is not only are they written by people who's grasp of the English language is tentative to say the least but they also seem to assume a certain level of knowledge in regard to terminology which many new to keyboards and midi simply do not have. Happily the MM6 manual does not fall into this category By the way, there's a MM6 on Ebay at the moment for £230 with no bids and only 1hr 42 min to go! Another at a buy it now of £299 or best offer. These are fantastic keyboards for this sort of money.
