Hi I have some real problems with my ACER ASPIRE 1694 WLMI!? I have replaced my internal hard drive to a 'new' Hitachi ATA/IDE 80GB(model: HTS541080G9AT00) my old original was a Seagate Momentus Ultra-ATA 100GB (Model: ST9100823A).

Jun 3, 2005 - The first time you switch the system ON, it automatically starts Acer's SelfConfiguration Pre-load utility. I could select to install either English, French or Dutch Windows XP. After some time it enters Windows XP setup, asking you language, time-zone and keyboard settings. Eventually, you end up with the.
During all the time I have the battery removed ( to ensure that this is not causing any problems)! Also my PC does not suffer from heating/cooling problem since it works independently of the time being used only problem at startup! I have used my ACER boot(system) CD+ ACER Recovery CD 1 to 3 to install the software at my 'new' hard drive, the first part of the installation works. (I have the D2D recovery enabled in the bios during the boot+ recovery). Then the PC tries to load windows and the windows symbol on the black background is shown, directly after the ACER CD installation, my PC shuts down itself. If I restart my PC again windows is loaded and I could specify my time zone, license agreement,computer name etc for the first time after installation.
But then this is completed PC shuts down again and I could not come any further. Sometimes the blue screen is shown with error, I think 0000x000 hard to see. I could not come any further, my PC turn off itself. When I wait say 1min after this and restart my PC again I'm logged in and my desktop is seen while ACER launch tool is running, e-recovery solution running. Then my PC reboots after this a message says' tsass.exe' could not run and the PC turns off again.
I restart my PC again after some min and my desktop is seen. I let my PC stays running and it works fine!! I notice my hard drive has one partition C.
I restart my PC and notice a blue screen with error c000021a (serious system error) Windows logon process terminated 0x00000402 (0x00000000) I think, while it turns off again. I wait some minutes and turn PC on again everything is working and my desktop shows up. The PC acts normal!!
Every time I start my computer I can run into startup problems and the computer either shut down itself or restart itself. But if I leave the computer off for some minutes and then turn it on again it works and loads everything and could be used without trouble for as long time I want to.
What is the problem and how to fix this? Please give me detailed help with software tools and links to download the software’s Thanks. I have also tried to use an XP home edition CD and boot from this directly after the failed use of the ACER boot + recovery CDs.
When I used the XP and booted from this it said that the installation could not proceed since the registry could not be updated? What is this error and how to solve this? Are these errors from the installations i.e. The ACER CD and XP CD the same? Some other related questions: Is it necessary to have a correct format (FAT32), partitioning (c: AND d:) of the hard disk before the use of the ACER boot + recovery CD's?
Or does the ACER disks format and make the correct partitioning of the 'new' hard disk? Otherwise how to make a correct format and partitioning of my 'new' hard drive before I use the ACER installation disks?

I tried to login from my windows screen but as soon as the desktop was loaded I was thrown out again to the windows login screen and could not come any further. That’s why I thought that the problem was my hard drive and why I bought a 'new' one!
Could any one please provide me with a copy of the ACER Boot CD + ACER Recovery CD 1,2,3 working with my ACER ASPIRE 1694wlmi? This to make sure that my cd's are not the problem! I do not want to pay for new cd's since I only have used them 1 time!

I have checked my PC with both memtest86 (settings ECC-disabled) and the hard drive tester without any errors reported! I have noticed what sometimes the blue screen says 'the video driver could not be initiated'?

This is very strange since I have not changed any hardvare. Also the drivers to my PC is included in the ACER boot and recovery CD that I have used. The PC still works good when it is running, but during restart or shut down I receive these blue screen errors and the PC shut down it self several times. If I wait some minutes and restart it again it loads everything and works. Could some one also provide me with the original discs for my ACER ASPIRE 1690-series,the boot disc and recovery disc 1,2,3?

It didn't work. I have an minidump but it's rather long to be published. I tried safe mode (first option used) and started XP. Thereafter the screen went black and nothing else. The PC shut down itself after some time. One time the blue screen occurred with error messages. Despite several attempts to restart my PC only one logfile in the minidump has been created and that was from yesterday?!
The minidump is attached as an zip. I have borrowed an XP Home CD. I have checked my OEM license by Magic Jelly software which I hope would work. Is it possible to get an XP Home CD, legal copy for free from e.g. Microsoft (download somewhere)?
