I don't know if this is a right section to post on, but I gotta tell you this. I got a friend that found pirated unity pro version, he's a really good friend to me, i wish the best for him, but this what is he doing is just wrong. He's making a game, it's going pretty well for him, his game is awesome. It's gonna be for androids, he want's to sell it on Play Store. But with unity cracked. I'm always telling him that is a bad idea, but he just tells me that when he gets money from the game, he'll buy a real unity legaly, two times if he needs to, but right now he don't have much money to get it. So, what do you think, what will happen to him if he sells the game?
Is unity team gonna do anything about it? Nothing will happen to him, stop fretting (personal opinion, not fact).

#1 - The chances of him finishing his game are probably 0.0001% #2 - The chances of Unity sending the Copyright Police after him are probably about the same. I'm not saying they don't care, but I doubt they care enough about one guy to go after him. If he's hosting a cracked version, that's a different thing. As a decent human being (I'm guessing here) you have the responsibility to tell him he shouldn't be violating copyright.
Then your responsibility ends. So if you've done that, move on.

Unity Pro Schneider
Click to expand.Well we do live in a poor, small S. country called BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina), so yeah, the chances of police are small, but still worried about him, I gotta stop him. And why do you think that the chances of finishing the game are 0.0001% posibble?
There's lots of good indie games out there, that really made it. And also, if his game really made it, then the police will go after him prolly, and he will have a real license by that time, so. I'll do anything to stop him, if i can't i won't report him or anything, ofcourse i can't do that to a good friend of mine. I'll be frank here, and no offence intended to you, OP. There have been so many 'my friend is thinking about pirating unity pro' questions in the past that almost every1 (maybe even UT) assume/even know 'for sure' that the 'friend' is imaginary. So people get a good laugh and reply 'YOU can just use the Free'.
I'm still in the learning stage, and publishing something phase is still quite far from me. And my Country is 1 of the LEAST developed, and remote, where a software's copyrights are a joke. Seriously, people SELL pirated stuff in CD/DVD, and even with crack/keygen for 50. And that works the same as it would if you bought the legal/original copy for 500. Still i use Unity Free, and i am thankful to UT for Unity's Free version Low chance of getting caught does NOT mean you should/can use them. Use the Free version, earn and purchase a legal PRO copy You dont always need the PRO version and also, there are always other ways you can overcome those limitations in the game, maybe via alternate design. I'll be frank here, and no offence intended to you, OP.

Use the Free version, earn and purchase a legal PRO copy You dont always need the PRO version and also, there are always other ways you can overcome those limitations in the game, maybe via alternate design. We have a database of people who have purchased Pro. We'll let the authors of the assets know, and help the take action. If we think your 'friend' is abusing us and asset store vendors, then we'll take as much action as we can. Not our problem, right? Your friend can pay his debt over time. Well, yes he can distribute his game as freeware.
In the same way that we have a version of Unity we charge nothing for. If he uses Pro, it's not up to us to decide if his game is free or purchased. We'll still expect a person who's published a game with Pro to have a legit license.
