Nov 14, 2004 - Could anyone please explain how to upgrade software/firmware on 5400Z, currently:HW oak1+11 2.1 SW Hic 1.03.06+ Loader version H2.08. I managed to download files etc. From Satdudez.,but when I tried to start upload, window appeared saying 'Waiting for Humax connection' then nothing happened. Could anyone please explain how to upgrade software/firmware on 5400Z. You need to make sure you have the latest update from Humax. And download the humax. May 15, 2009 - So, I would like to present you with 'How to upgrade Humax 5400' I am doing this. Which is attached or it can be downloaded from here. Remove your antivirus then delete sharemax software after removing antivirus then run sharemax, if it will work then your sharemax still running install antvirus.
I am having serious problems with my 9200T such as the box freezing up, recordings failing to stop (on Friday a programme recorded for 11 hours rather than 1) and scheduled recordings dropping off the list. I came back from holiday in April to find that as the unit failed to stop recording, the rest of my scheduled programmes didn't record. I have contacted Humax over the past 2 months and the reply I keep getting is that a software update is being worked on for this model, yet their later models have had updates.

For those of you considering buying a Humax PVR I would seriuously reconsider when this is how they treat their customers. I have bought two 9200T's costing over £400, and now I have to keep looking to see if a programme is recording and switching the unit off at the mains to unfreeze the box. This is not good! This is not good! Click to expand.I quite agree. BETA versions of attempted fixes have been around since November 2009, and since then the over the air (OTA) update to fix the problems has always been arriving in a couple of weeks! The BETA software can only be applied using a serial cable (remember them?) so isn't a practical exercise for most people who will have no choice but to wait for the transmitted update. Humax PR trying to stop the bad publicity got involved with statements on their Facebook page saying an over the air update would be available in a matter of weeks (for the month of May) That has since not happened and they are back to issuing BETA firmware to the lucky people that actually get a reply from their support email address.
The last BETA fix that did work resulted in the EPG loading slower, so really was just shifting the problem elsewhere, so they are now attempting to cache the EPG to the hard-drive so you don't have to wait when you first turn on. A new BETA with this functionality is being issued, again if you are lucky enough to ever get a response from their support email address, I never have.
Note that Humax have never accepted that scheduled series link entries could just disappear, so I doubt that has been fixed in this latest version. Facebook PR: Regards Phil. This is the latest response recieved today: We have the beta test software available that people are downloading into the units with much success but it is taking further testing now as the guide is populating longer, So we do apologize for the wait in this time, I just feel really helpless as I don't want to buy another PVR when I have forked out over £400 for these two Humax's. But what can you do? Last night 4 programmes failed to record properly.
When eventually I do upgrade to an HD model, I will definitely give Humax a miss. If you get any further info, please pass it on. I didn't know they had a facebook page so I will look into that. We have three Humax 9200t s in the extended family - and I too am getting very annoyed with them!! But I think the latest news is that the OTA update will be broadcast next week: 'Humax UK Software update for the PVR 9200T will be available Over the Air during the following periods: 09/06/10-11/06/10, 23/06/10-25/06/10, 12/07/10-14/07/10 OTA dates for the PVR 9150T & PVR 9300T to be confirmed' From what I read in the comments from other facebook users, eg: Martin Liddle: 'The default mechanism to get the OTA is to leave the box in standby overnight; the OTA will then be downloaded on the night of the 9th/10th.

Alternatively you can manually initiate the download any time after 10am on the 9th. I usually do it the second way and with the box tuned to BBC1. The download can seem to hang for several minutes before starting to download whilst the box waits to find the start of the carousel; be patient. After downloading you should perform a reset to default settings; remember to take a note of your recording schedule and other settings as they will be reset.' (which was exactly the advice I was looking for.) I await with baited breath. Humax has offered several beta updates via its websites in the last couple of months. The latest one seems to have cleared up more problems than it created (a few people are still posting some issues).
Whilst I had decided to avoid the original updates if they were offered OTA, I've decided to go along with the latest, which as posted just down the page, will be available from 10 am on Wednesday. If you want this update do not switch off the unit - just leave it in standby with automatic updates enabled.
