If People know you can provide them with something they will always look at taking advantage of you. They will become your friend give you things and treat you well.

Once people get tired or they think you can't provide them with what they want, they turn their backs on you and pretend like they don't know you. Life suck like this.

But i guess as long as your honest with who you are and are always there to help others out, in the end people will come to respect that and realize who you truly are. Irfan Khan again played an amazing role.

Priyadarshan

Becoming one of my favourite actors. As SRK always cries in his movies I watched for nearly 2.5 hrs and he didn't cry i thought that was odd. But he soon started giving the speach to the bache (kids) and there he went. Great old srk, never disapoints. Always needs to cry in every movie.

But i guess thats why the ladki love him, he's in touch with his emotions. (i tried that and people called me a pisoglentiask your greek friends what that word means).

Anyways, awesome movie i recommend it. Though i wish they focused more on the rivalry between the two barber shops and made rajpals character a little funnier.

Luck By Chance Movie

Deepika would be lucky to have a guy like me, well I'd be lucky to have a girl like her. Why do they tease me by putting her in a movie for 2 min. The first thing we did after coming out frm the multiplex was to find if any Reimbursement counter set up.lol.but seriously this movie is just sooooooo bad. Its not even worth watchin on ur PC for free so dont waste ur bandwidth downloading this shit. Its not worth anthing. Typical Priyadarshan cast and as always all were absolutely wasted. Was pathetic watchin SRK dance wid deepika(thou she just blazed on screen.half star for deepika.hotttt) Irfan was the saving grace.what emotive eyes he got!!he never fails our expectations.one helluva actor!

ONE WHOLE star for u Man. Half star for the scenic location. I already wasted my time and money watchin this one.so dont wanna waste any more time writin a review on it. Dont believe me? Go waste some money and 2hrs.18mins.hehehe. This is the story of how a down and out village Barber's talkative bachos get him into strife by mentioning to anyone who will listen their Pa happens to be mates with the most famous dude in India. The advantageous and downright dodgy citizens of Budbuda soon lean on poor old Billu for all sorts of favours and celeb appearances.

And for the most part, Billu goes along with it. It all starts coming apart when Billu just cannot seem to come up with the golden ticket: some face to face q-time with King Khan. Billu is being hauled away by the police and having his possessions taken away, his kids are ashamed to know him, and his missus cops a barrage from their local snotty remark crew. As per usual, Irrfan (Khan) rocks the Casbah, Om Puri is a hysterical meanie tightass, Lara is pretty solid too, the music is kitschy and cool (read 'Love Mera Hit Hit' - snootch), and no-one, and I do mean no-one, can evoke the emotion of SRK with a simple quivering of the bottom lip. This is why he is the King! Irrfan Khan does it again!

He was fantastic as the simple but selfless village barber in BILLU. Sadly, the scriptwriter and director didn't know what to do with the rest of the cast. The cinematography and dance choreography were functional but nothing out of the ordinary. The item songs seemed out of place within the story's finer context. I have a few questions & notes - 1) This is a remake of a far superior original South Asian version - Why? 2) Who wrote this messy script? 3) Where did the director and editor go?

Gone to the craft table? Many years ago, there was Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Guddi,' a story of an ordinary girl's crush (Jaya Bachchan) for a reigning superstar (Dharmendra). It was a simple story told with little embellishments and worked big time. 'Billu Barber' is somewhat similar in its nature.

It is the story of the friendship of Billu, the local barber with the most popular star in India, Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan). When the latter comes to Billu's village for a film shooting, Billu is scared to contact him as he fears that the star will not remember him or worse, be ashamed to acknowledge him. The story is inspired by the mythological story of Lord Krishna and Sudama, the prince and the pauper who were once childhood friends. Simplicity is the key element of this film. While Priyadarshan has stuck to making silly but sometimes entertaining comedies mostly after 'Hera Pheri,' one must not forget that he has made some dramas in the past which were extremely well crafted like 'Virasat' and 'Gardish.'

With 'Billu' he takes on a drama after a hiatus and actually manages to do justice to it. Sure, there are comic elements in the story. However, the main focus is on the drama. It is a heartwarming tale of two friends from different worlds and Priyadarshan tells it in the simplest way possible achieving the right balance between humour and drama. Also, credit must be given to Shah Rukh Khan, the producer, for vouching for a heartwarming and believable story and substance over gloss. Such choices are rare these days in mainstream Hindi cinema.

He adds his share of embellishments to the film with the song and dance sequences with Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. However, these songs are well placed and do not stray from the main plot that concerns the barber and the dilemma he faces. The movie also succeeds in creating the typical atmosphere of a big village. The village characters are highly colourful and diverse: the school principal, the local money lender (Om Puri), the wannabe poet (Rajpal Yadav) are prime among there. The euphoria around film shooting and big stars among the villagers is very real and convincing.

The production design also deserves full credit for authenticity. The sets of the market, houses etc. Are really well done with a fine eye for detailing. The camerawork is gorgeous and captures the natural beauty around the village in its lens with dexterity. The music panders to the masses mainly. While the songs are enjoyable, they will soon be forgotten. Overall, there is little to complain about in the technical department.

As regards the script, however, there is one complaint. The movie drags beyond a point in the second half. Since the story is simple, it could have been easily wrapped up in 2 hours neatly. The extra 20-25 minutes dilute the impact somewhat. Of course, the length is still a major improvement over most other Hindi films which still opt for a length of close to 3 hours. Also, the characterisation is great and some of the scenes are very well scripted and executed like Billu's arrest and the climax.

The dialogues are in shudh Hindi, another rarity these days, which might also make it difficult to understand for urban elite audiences. However, they are hilarious in places. Scenes like the one in the mela (carnival) are sure to bring the house down.

In terms of performances, the movie belongs to Irrfan Khan, who pitches in another superb performance in his list of superlative performances. He emotes and conveys so much from his eyes that often, one finds himself hardly paying any attention to his dialogues. He brings out the simplicity and the quiet pride of the character of Billu splendidly on screen. Anyone else in his place would probably have been a disaster. But he carries the film on his broad shoulders from start to finish. Shah Rukh Khan is just fine and is clearly enjoying playing himself. The montage of scenes from his previous films like 'Main Hoon Na,' 'Pardes,' 'Dilmwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge,' 'Dil Se' etc.

Bring a smile to one's face and adds another dimension to the star persona sought to be brought out on screen. He also emotes well in the penultimate 15 minutes when required. A surprise comes in the form of Lara Dutta who looks fairly convincing as a village belle married to the local barber. The former Miss Universe is gorgeous no doubt.

But here, as a plain Jane with crushed cotton sarees and no make up she actually looks just right for the character. Here is an actress who deserves good roles but is getting none! In addition to the main cast, the supporting cast including Asrani, Om Puri, Manoj Joshi and others all fit very well into their characters. Overall, the best part and the worst part about 'Billu' is its simplicity. It is the best part as it actually elevates the film as an aesthetic work.

Unfortunately, it is also the worst part in the sense that this also severely stunts if not altogether kills its commercial viability. This is among those movies that directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee made in the 1970s and early 1980s which celebrate the ordinariness of life. If you enjoyed those, then do go and watch 'Billu.'
