I have had applications that start immediately as soon as the OS starts and just don't give services a chance to start and then report that the HASP is missing. I have also had applications that I can delay startup and all works fine. Since it is your VM that is connecting to the remote USB device (not the Hyper-V server), you may run into this timing issue if you run the synthetic NIC and your software tries to do a HASP query prior to the VM connecting to the remote USB over IP device (since the Synthetic NIC loads after the OS, while the legacy NIC is always on - like hardware). So you are saying if you reboot the virtual server, you must manually start it up? I'm assuming with the belkin or with the digi, that they will work with hyper-V server. Ie: since hyper-v doesnt have a windows interface this shouldnt matter, dont the devices mainly function in the virtual server guest realm with a hardware connection via ethernet. Brian Ehlert (hopefully you have found this useful) Have you used one of these two devices though? Just trying to decide which one to go for, one is around $80 the other $350. I know we will have at least 2 or 3 usb dongles that need accessed by VMs. I forget how many each can support offhand.
